Warm Up Over a Hot Dish at UMAI Ramen & Rice Bowl

If you haven't yet visited UMAI Ramen & Rice Bowl, now might be a good time to do so. This new Herndon restaurant specializes in fresh, house-made ramen noodles and spicy Japanese curry. As you enter, be sure to look up and see the whimsical flock of origami bird flying overhead, and then direct your attention the huge colorful mural on the back wall, before sitting down to your meal. 

Yelpers recommend starting with an appetizer like karaage chicken with spicy mayo, or a plate of cheesy curry fried dumplings. If you want to keep things spicy, consider ordering your main dish from the curry menu. Tonkatsu curry served over rice is a popular option, thanks to the fact that the pork is breaded, fried, and served in crispy slices on top of the curry, rather than stewed with the sauce. Interested in milder flavors? Go for a bowl of ramen, which you can easily customize to your preferred spice level.
