Winter in Reston
Winter in Reston may be cold but its local event schedule is heating up with lots of merry hivernal activities near Aperture. Make your way to one of these wonderful community events in Reston for some mid-winter fun.
Glide or stumble across the ice at nearby rink, SkateQuest. Skate rentals are $4, children’s admission is $7 and adult admission is $8. For public skating session times and more information, visit SkateQuest’s website. SkateQuest is an 11 minute walk or three minute drive from Aperture.
Go sledding at one of the local favorite hills for some wintry amusement for the whole family. Visit King Kong Hill at Hidden Creek Golf Course for lofty hills or try Mount Reston behind the Universalist Unitarian Church on Wiehle Avenue for an intensely large hill. Take a dip in Lake Anne for a good cause at the annual Virginia Polar Dip. Registration begins at noon on February 3, 2018 and the polar plunge is scheduled to happen at 2 p.m. All proceeds go to send children with life threatening illnesses to the Camp Sunshine retreat in Maine. Register for this event here. This event will be held at Reston Community Center, which is an eight minute drive from Aperture.
